History of Encinitas

San Diego located on the Pacific Ocean at the southernmost end of the west coast; is the second largest city in California - The Golden State and one of the eight largest cities in Us. The city shares its name with Saint Didacus. The city is also the county seat of San Diego County, Fl. The city drives millions and millions of traveler every year to Encinitas, the coastal beach city in northern San Diego County.

Encinitas is embraced by the San Elijo Lagoon to the south and Batiquitos to the north. Encinitas city was incorporated by various San California communities along with New Encinitas, historic Encinitas, Olivenhain, Cardiff-by-the-sea and Leucadia. Each community has its own separate taste. Far away from the frustrating crowd, Encinitas proves paradise for the tourist.

Old Encinitas: This community is situated at historic downtown Encinitas on Pacific Ocean coastline and established in 1881. Old Encinitas is notable for its housing styles and businesses. There are two main theories about this old historical community. Today, Old Encinitas' Moonlight Beach is the each year host of Wavecrest, the world's largest vintage woodie car show.

Cardiff-by-the-sea: Cardiff has a charming beach located into the gorgeous hills, while maintaining its old inheritance appeal. J. Frank Cullen gave this name in 1914 after Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. Cardiff-by-the-sea is separated by the Solana Beach. It is Encinitas' southernmost oceanfront community, which features streets named after classical composers.

Leucadia: Leucadia means "Isle of Paradise" or "Place of Shelter." Leucadia is the one of its kind fun place to hand-out and experienced relaxed life style. This is a quite surfing town situated in the north coastal part of Encinitas. Neptune Avenue is the great place for visitors to enjoy serene ocean sights, while running, walking, and roller skating.

Olivenhain: The name Olivenhain means "olive grove." This community is located to southeast Encinitas and just located on walking length from North San Diego County Beaches. This is a home for active 4-H club. Olivenhain have fruit orchards filled with a variety of citrus and avocado trees. Equestrian facilities and horse arenas attract hundreds each year to ride and show their horses.

New Encinitas: Encinitas means "Little Live Oaks." This is a new community which offers lots of golf courses with 18 holes at 72 par, many shopping centers and larger tract homes. New Encinitas holds area's oldest history, two Spanish forts. Once, this area was known for farming and flower fields but today, this area is known as the heart of business.
